Winter warmer – spiced apple cider
It is the Winter Solstice today, and we’re celebrating at home with comforting winter fare – A1’s Pulled Pork in bread rolls apple slaw – you’ll find our recipe for that here.
To wash it down, I made up some spiced apple cider that I served at a party a few weeks ago. It’s dead easy and is a quick twist that will take your cider to something warming and special for Winter…
- Apple cider – we used Cascade Sparkling Apple, but it could work just as well with alcoholic or even apple juice.
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 1 vanilla pod, split down the middle
The How To
Add all ingredients into a pot and cook on a low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Easy!
I do mine in the thermomix, so I don’t even have to stir. 60 degrees, 10 minutes, speed soft.
You can strain out the vanilla seeds if you like, but I leave them in and just remove the cloves, whole vanilla pod and cinnamon stick.
