Time-Saving Wardrobe Tips
I think we all loved Mel’s post awhile back about streamlining our mornings to help us all get that extra hour of sleep (as lord knows we all need it). I personally was impressed at her boost in organisational skills (GO MEL!!) and it made me think what else I could do to enhance my own pillow time.
Now I don’t know about you, but I’m crap at picking clothes. I’m not what you would call a fashionista in any sense of the word and find myself wearing pretty much the same type of thing every day. Black, white, grey, denim and the odd spot of blue pretty much sums up my wardrobe. Add knee-high boots, stilettos and havianas to that mix and that’s me.
A girlfriend of mine recently got an awesome birthday present from her hubby of a personal stylist who went right through her wardrobe. She showed her how to mix and match outfits, chucked out anything that didn’t fit or wasn’t her colour or style. She also passed on this great little chart which gives you an idea of what colours are best for your skin type.
So – I had a go at cleaning out my own wardrobe. I threw out a few things, did a bit of this-goes-with-that, found a stack of stuff I haven’t worn for ages and made myself up a selection of outfits for each workday of the week. I put everything on a hanger – right down to the jacket, scarf, underwear etc and hung it all on the end of my bed – ready for easy access when needed. So far it has worked a treat! All that needs doing is to grab the clothes hanger on route to the bathroom and tad-dah!!! no more wasting valuable shut-eye.
I must admit – it’s also been fun playing dress-up on the weekend and having time to actually work out how I can get more outfits out of what clothes I already own. I’m so used to wearing the same thing over and over that I never realised just how well different things went together and (gasp!) how good I can actually look if I tried!!
