Making Fairy Dust
Miss N has been begging me for weeks to help her make “Fairy Dust”. I must admit I did kind of ignore her for a bit hoping she would forget, because honestly, I hated to think what Fairy Dust actually was (BadMummyAlert!!).
We did end up having a go at it last week and I must say – it was fun! We used these tiny little glass bottles I found in a discount shop and it made it look really cute!
It was really easy and very cheap for a fun activity. We measured out white sugar using the bottle and poured that into a small bowl. I added one drop of our chosen food colouring (honestly….1.drop! – too much and it gets too wet and mushy) and we stirred and stirred until the sugar was evenly coloured and vibrant. Using a funnel, we put the coloured sugar back into the bottle and moved on to the next one.
This would probably work with sand also, and may last a lot longer. You could create some really fun rainbow effects in a larger jar.
A great little activity for your kids these school holidays!!
