Simple outdoor play
Yesterday, we made a cubby outside. Nothing elaborate and its going to fall down in the slightest breeze, but it kept the kids outside on a rare sunny Winters day.
We used branches, leaves and bark which we had plenty of thanks to some recent windy weather.
The kids also gathered rocks to make a ‘fireplace’. Miss E busied herself rubbing sticks together to make fire. That could have kept her going for hours!
When I was in primary school, we were lucky enough to have a small bush area surrounding the school and pockets of shrubby trees also within our play areas and I have fond memories of doing exactly the same thing as my kids were doing yesterday. We were very protective of our cubby houses and who had access. Does anyone else have memories of doing this as a child?
